Sandies Bathala

It was an amazing experience of living on such a small island, but they will provide everything you need. The food is just wonderful, stuff is friendly and helpful, atmosphere is nice and very Italian oriented. Reccomend for those who loves privacy and very calm vacations in beautiful place! Would add TV into the rooms for the days with bad weather.

It’s not the first time of staying there and we are absolutely satisfied! Great staff, an awesome service and picturesque views!

We choose here because the island itself got amazing diving spots. Great service and delicious food with various varieties. Special love friendly staffs made us feel welcome! Many activities around for kids and adults. It’s a family trip with kids and we are all satisfied. Special thanks to Mustafá our house keeper who made our trip even more welcome. Will definitely come back again!

I met up with my family here for our first Christmas together in 11 years, and the experience was absolutely divine. From the moment we were met with the news that we had been upgraded to beautiful water villas (we felt so lucky) the staff at Sandies Bathala could not have done more to make our stay perfect. The island had a range of Christmas events in addition to their usual activities, including a gala dinner on the beach under the stars. The water bungalows had stunning views from the deck, and who doesn't like watching little baby blacktip reef sharks cruising around whilst the sun goes down? The house reef was superb for marine life - 4 shark species ("nice" ones), eagle rays, turtles, moray eels and hundreds of reef fish species on every snorkel. I'd describe this island as a little slice of paradise with a personal touch - thank you to all of the people who make that way.

This was our first visit to Sandies, although we had stayed at several other islands in the Maldives over the years. Here, we found an island paradise… beautiful, small, natural, unspoilt,…a very special place. On arrival, we were welcomed by friendly, smiling staff members who ensured that we were well taken care of throughout our stay. During our vacation we took the opportunity to experience both the beach villa, which we had booked, and water villa…..each a delight in different ways. The beach villa enabled a short sandy walk into the ocean to snorkel, whereas the overwater villa, direct access to the sea. Both were spacious, simple but comfortable, well maintained, pristine…kept fresh each day. Amazing snorkeling experience around the reef, accessing from the jetty or beach. Unfortunately, for me, my full facemask broke midway through my holiday, but it was not a problem as Sandies provide masks and fins for the duration of your holiday should you require them so I was able to borrow one for the rest of my stay.There is also a dive centre on the island offering various activities…experienced,friendly lovely people. It is obvious that great care is taken to keep the island in good order…the beach is swept regularly, the gardeners work continuously.We particularly enjoyed joining the green walk..learning of the various projects undertaken such as recycling, desalination scheme,vegetable garden. During our stay Christmas decorations were being made from recycled products, .including Christmas trees from wood. Marine biologists also work on the island, and are undertaking various research projects…they share their knowledge and experience. Their informal evening presentations are not to be missed. A highlight of our visit was the staff volleyball competition. We watched several of the games which were played with great enthusiasm. All participating team played well and it looked to be much fun. The food and restaurant is outstanding….our thanks to the chefs and waiters. Loved the fresh pasta dishes and fresh fish,red snapper, swordfish and tuna in particular. Also, the seafood platter we ordered..the best we have had the pleasure to enjoy..it pipped London! Compliments to the chef. We also enjoyed our time spent relaxing, playing cards or dominoes together in Sandies bar in the evening as well as the evening entertainment. From the moment we arrived until our departure the Reception staff ensured we were well taken care of. It was a delight to speak with them each day…warm, friendly and approachable. They made everyone feel special. We spent our time at Sandies relaxing and taking things easy , just loving being on Bathala, but for those who want more there are many trips available to experience. Last, and not least, thank you to,Mr Tyronne, who leads the very exceptional Sandies Team…front of house and those behind the scenes too, without whom we would not have had the pleasure of experiencing our perfect holiday.
